# Turn any Ellie answer into an automation

> Automate this sits under every Ellie answer: run the question on a schedule or a Slack message, send it to people or a channel, and read each run as a thread.

Automations now live in Ask Ellie. When a question is worth asking every week, one click under the answer schedules it, and Ellie suggests it for you once you have asked the same thing three times in seven days.

## Automate this, under the answer

Under the latest answer, Automate this opens an inline form. Ellie rewrites the question so it reads well on every run, and you pick a trigger (a schedule or a Slack message) and a destination: just you, chosen people, or a Slack channel.

Scheduled automations are for workspace owners, and Slack-triggered ones for admins, the same rules the rest of the workspace follows.

## Suggested when you keep asking

Ask the same question three or more times in seven days and a quiet "Suggested, asked N times" row appears in the sidebar. Dismiss it and it stays dismissed.

## Every automation reads like a thread

Open an automation and it reads like a conversation: its schedule and destination, the next run, a link back to the chat it came from, and the history of delivered reports. Retry a run, ask Ellie about one, or change the automation by chatting with it.

## All of them in one place

See all lists every automation in one table grouped by cadence, with a calendar view, filters, and run, pause and delete. Automations can run on weekdays only, and can deliver only when something changed since the last run.

## Improvements

- Ask Ellie: The sidebar shows Failed and Paused badges on automations.
- Ask Ellie: Each automation keeps a run log with the report it delivered.
- Ask Ellie: The old Automations page now opens the same view inside Ask Ellie.
- Ask Ellie: Ellie drafts the instructions for a new automation from your question.

## Fixes

- Ask Ellie: Ellie's tools act only within the asker's role.
- Ask Ellie: Automations follow roles: owners schedule, admins set up Slack-triggered runs.
- Ask Ellie: Automation instructions validate reliably when you save them.
